About Us

We are a medium sized, Irish, timber processing company located in the heart of the most afforested county in Ireland and bordering the village of Aughrim (Ireland's Tidiest Town 2007).

While the plant in Aughrim has been processing timber since 1974 the present company was formed in 1998 following a buy out of the assets from the Smurfit Group.

Employing 65 people we are well positioned adjacent to both port facilities and high density population regions. Ideally located to service all markets we have a good site and an experienced and able workforce. We also possess an excellent health, safety, environmental and industrial relations record. We gain a competitive advantage through efficiently producing quality value added products. Our name is well received in the UK where we have succeeded in marketing our products for many years against stiff competition.

In recent years the thrust of the company's development has been to modernise the processing capability and efficiency of the plant and to develop its range of value added products. In doing so we have achieved the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody certification (SW-COC-340). All our products conform to FSC-Mixed Status, meaning that they are derived from timber which comes from well managed forests and controlled sources.

The plant now produces a wide range of fencing and decking products for both the home and UK markets. Our main products include d rail, weaves, arris rail, feather edge boards etc., traditional decking with handrails and balustrades and the award winning self assembly e-zeebuild modular decking system. We are also a major supplier of roadside post and rail fencing, manufactured to the IS 435 standard. We hold an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Integrated Prevention Pollution Control (IPPC) Licence enabling us to treat timber, in green or brown, for preservation. The treated timber we supply for end use is non-hazardous and a recently installed second Tanalith E pressure treatment plant now enables us to cater for additional markets. We have also become the first company in Ireland to be registered to the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Quality Assurance Scheme on Farm Fencing to I.S. 436: 2007. The management and staff have many years of experience and the Woodfab name has always been synonymous with quality and service.

A subsidiary company, Woodfab Structures Ltd. (www.woodfabstructures.ie ) was formed in 2001 to manufacture a new range of fencing and acoustic barriers, all I.S. EN standards as specified by the National Roads Authority (NRA).

Through our timber trading division we are in a position to compliment our own production with imported carcassing, fencing and added value items from our suppliers in the Baltics.
